Blairstown Names Green Team Members
At its public meeting on August 12, the Blairstown Township Committee took up the issue of the Sustainable Blairstown Green Team. After reviewing a list of volunteers provided by Environmental Commission member Kevin Doell, the Committee unanimously endorsed the work of the Environmental Commission in establishing its new Green Team. The new Green Team will leverage the skills and expertise of its team members to develop plans, implement programs, and assist with educational opportunities that support the Sustainable Blairstown program. The team will gather on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Blairstown Municipal building on Route 94. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend all meetings of the group. Several seats remain open on the Green Team steering committee.
The formation of the team is the first step in establishing a community sustainability program and is a mandatory action for all communities participating in the Sustainable Jersey program. The completion of this action represents the first 10 points earned by the group as it strives to reach the 100 points required for Blairstown to reach is sustainability goal.
